This website was the official website of the Isle of Man Swimming Association (IoMSA) from 2002 until March 2009 when the IoMSA decided that they would develop their own website. Following the decision of the IoMSA to create their own website I have maintained this website primarily as a test bed for my own web development work. This website is not affiliated to, or endorsed by, the Isle of Man Swimming Association in any way, and their website http:/www.iomswim.net is the official website of the IoMSA.
This site runs on an open source Content Management System (CMS) which has been heavily customised. Many icons on this site are freely available on the internet, where possible permission has been sought for their reproduction and credit given to their authors. The Isle of Man Swimming logos and site design used herein were created exclusively by Adam Jackson. The Contact-us, Downloads, Events, Links, Live Results, Search, Sitemap and RSS Feed modules were also created exclusively by Adam Jackson.
Some people may find this website of use as it provides an archive of many results, records and news items which may be of interest. Additionally, this website will automatically display the latest news on Manx swimming from various news organisations, and will also include results of off Island swimming galas with the results of Manx swimmers being highlighted for easy identification. If you would like to keep informed of updates to this website, but do not want to check back frequently then please use the RSS Feed which is updated with all the latest news and which your browser can automatically check for you.
I am a 25 year old student studying for a D.Phil in engineering science at the University of Oxford. My research involves measuring heat transfer rates to gas turbine blade tips. The measurements are conducted using a shroudless, transonic, 1½ stage turbine experiment which simulates the conditions found in modern aero-engines.
I used to swim for the Island and am very grateful to all those who contributed their time and effort to helping make the time I spent training and competing such a great experience. I started this website several years ago in an effort to give something back and to try to make my own small contribution to swimming on the Isle of Man.
